Carbody from London to Rotterdam

01 March 2010

Van der Vlist UK recently moved a large Terex Demag carbody from London to Rotterdam.

Dimensions: Length 14.85 x Width 3.00 x Height 3.35m, 81,000kg.

There were also two heavy caterpillar tracks:

Length 11.82 x Width 2.00 x Height 1.85m each, 44,900kg each

Van der Vlist UK can offer our customers excellent prices for mobile machinery, based on the vehicles moving ro-ro on a ferry, but for Herculean vehicles such as this, it is necessary to disassemble them prior to transport and then to reassemble them upon their arrival at the final destination.

An additional 20 loads were required to take lengths of boom, crane jibs and other ancillary pieces.

Large boiler from London to Brussels

22 December 2009

Van der Vlist UK recently moved a large boiler from London to Brussels.

We used our 3+5 axle low loader, which can be seen in the photograph below.

Due to the height, it was then transshipped onto a barge in Belgium, and moved via the Belgian waterways to its final destination.

Once offloaded from the barge, it was placed on a short 6-axle drawbar modular trailer for local movement, and once it had arrived it was placed on stools for temporary storage.

Dimensions were as follows:

Length 1050cm x width 560cm x height 440cm, 60,000kg.

There was also a lifting frame to increase these already substantial dimensions!

New Ducting for Power Station

07 September 2009

Van der Vlist UK recently transported new, 5.6m wide, ducting from India, via Antwerp, to the site in East Yorkshire.

The ducting was planned to be transported on our low loaders from Antwerp directly into Hull.  However, owing to the height of the pieces,    we needed special permission from the Highways Agency, which was granted, to enable us to drive the loads on our vehicles via road       from Killingholme to Hull.

Upon arrival in Hull, the cargo was transhipped into a barge and taken directly down the River Humber to the site.  The pieces arrived         on time, as planned.
