Van der Vlist have recently completed the assembly and delivery of a huge Komatsu dump truck, taken to Germany.
The 80 ton machine was assembled from the securely stored parts at Van der Vlist headquarters in Groot-Ammers. Based upon the customer’s requirements, it was decided that the huge vehicle should be fully assembled in the Van der Vlist workshop before transport, to make it as easy as possible for the client when it arrived on site.
During the assembly process, Van der Vlist technicians made specific alterations such as side extensions for the customer’s requirements, and gave the machine a final touch up to make sure it was in perfect condition. As usual a thorough pre-delivery inspection was conducted, before the machine was then partly dis-assembled for transport.
Even after dis-assembly though, the main part of the machine was still 54 tonnes with a width of 5.5 metres. The dump body weighed in at 16.5 tonnes, and measured 5.6 metres wide. The dump truck was delivered on time to the client, ready for on-site re-assembly.
