Van der Vlist used their own port facility in Moerdijk to help a local company move four 179 ton heat exchangers.
The 28 metre long pieces were collected one by one from the nearby factory, and taken to quay, where they were unloaded onto a barge for shipment, the journey was only a short one, but the 4 axle truck and modular 15 axle trailer had to be guided carefully around the local roads, where there are no restrictions.
The two barges were each loaded with two heat exchangers by mobile cranes with 500 and 700 ton capacities, on Van der Vlist’s quay. The movement and handling was safely and smoothly completed.
Their customer, a world leader in manufacturing high-end process equipment, chose to produce the pieces at their Moerdijk facility due to the excellent transport links available there. Their core expertise is building state-of-the-art heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and reactors in the high temperature, high pressure, and high corrosion resistance area.
