One of Van der Vlist’s growing areas of business is worldwide movement by flatrack. This is often a cheaper alternative to shipping Ro-ro, but still a safe, secure and simple method to easily ship cargo worldwide. It also gives more options as it means that container ports can be used, which are more widespread than Ro-ro ports.
A recent project using Flatrack shipping was to take 2 modular lines over to India. The two modular trailers, the gooseneck and various parts were collected and securely lashed together in southern Germany, where they were taken North to Holland and transferred and secured on to a suitable flatrack, where they could be shipped across to India.
When the modular trailers made their way into port in Mumbai, the customs and export documents were already arranged, so they were able to be collected and moved the short distance to their final destination in the city, to be put to good use in the transport industry there.
All of the services involved, from the road transport and shipping to the lashing and customs documents, was provided to the client at one price, and with one point of contact.
