Van der Vlist was recently enlisted to help a nitrogen factory with some very large problems. The task was to move 14 heavy and oversize pieces, in order to modernise a factory in Pulawy, eastern Poland. They measured up to 53,5 metres in length, 6,6 metres wide and 6,9 metres high.
With a combined weight of 3019 tonnes these consignments needed the expertise of two technical crews to guide them through their journeys. The parts were shipped to Poland from China on barges, and then transported on special modular trailers by road to their destination.
The sheer size of the loads meant that the road infrastructure had to be dismantled in places, and the convoy was escorted throughout by police vehicles as well as Van der Vlist’s own convoy vehicles. These massive structures also required special weight relieving constructions in order to cross weak bridges in getting to Pulawy.
The monstrous cargos made it safely to the factory thanks to the technical support and assistance of the experts at Van der Vlist in Poland. The route, and all of the assistance required in the safe transport of these vast structures was carefully and thoroughly planned, which is why Van der Vlist were trusted with this huge operation.
