At the end of 2014 Van der Vlist were asked to take a 54 ton excavator from their headquarters in Groot-Ammers, Netherlands, all the way to Turkmenistan. The machine measuring 11,28m x 3,45m x 3,59m had a long journey ahead.
Such a long route is still a regular task for Van der Vlist, who found the most efficient way in this case was to make use of the extensive rail network through Russia. The machine, along with parts amounting to around 17 tons, were moved by Road to Northern Germany, where they could be shipped across to the Baltic region.
Upon arrival the machinery was moved to the rail terminal, where the tracks were removed to reduce the height for suitability on the rail trailer, and then all parts were secured in place for the onward journey to central Asia.
Finally the trailer was unloaded in Turkmenistan, where the machine could be re-assembled ready to start working.
