Van der Vlist recently received a 120 ton Komatsu PC1250-8, in 10 separate pieces. Working with the Norwegian Komatsu distributors Hesselberg AS, the 16 metre long excavator needed to be assembled at Bremanger quarry in Norway.
The Dutch experts partly assembled the machine in their workshop, something they are highly accustomed to doing. In order to safely and comfortably ship the excavator it was still left partially incomplete. The vehicle then had to be shipped by river barge and across the north sea to the west-Norwegian quarry, where the temperature was recorded at -22,5°C.
The bitter chill of the freezing temperatures didn’t deter the Van der Vlist mechanics, as they set about unloading the vehicle, and began to finalise the assembly of the machine. The highly accomplished engineers finished assembling the 6 metre high Komatsu despite the cold, and it was able to begin it’s work in Bremanger.
Van der Vlist were chosen for this project as they were trusted by both the suppliers and the clients to provide a timely and efficient service from start to finish, taking in whatever may be required in between.
