Van der Vlist’s expertise in dealing with the transportation of trams has been on show again recently. They have been awarded the contract to transport in the new Bombardier trams for the city of Brussels from the Bombardier site in Brugge.
The Belgian capital has seen these beautiful sleek trams making their way into the city on the back of Van der Vlist trucks, with special modular trailers. The specialist equipment and knowledge for this type of transport means that the length of almost 44 m per tram with a total convoy length of 53 m for each carriage could be facilitated. As well as this, Van der Vlist’s custom made loading rails were used to load and unload the trams safely at either end.
The transport of these long vehicles doesn’t just require the specific equipment and vehicles, but also the skill and experience. The experienced Van der Vlist technical staff, drivers and escorts all helped these trams get to their destination smoothly, where will soon be in operation helping people move smoothly around the streets of Brussels.
