Mobile equipment accounts for a huge proportion of special and heavy transports. It is always a familiar sight to see an excavator, bulldozer or some other type of construction or agricultural equipment on a low loader. However there are all sorts of vehicles that need transporting all over Europe, and the world.
It was 2005 when Van der Vlist UK first started working for Angloco, a family run business specialising in the design, manufacture and worldwide distribution of fire fighting, rescue vehicles and equipment. They recently asked Van der Vlist to collect a fleet of Rosenbauer Panthers, a vehicle specifically designed for use as an Airport Crash Tender. These muscular looking machines have been used in films, as Sentinal Prime in the Transformers franchise. The 2, 3 and 4 axle machines are produced in Austria where Rosenbauer are based, but are used worldwide.
It was the job of Van der Vlist to take these striking machines from the Austrian factory, and deliver them to airports and military bases throughout the UK. This recent shipment included one vehicle which was particularly special. Angloco asked Van der Vlist to transport the 1000th Rosenbauer Panther to be made. The 3 axle version of the panther was taken by a trademark orange truck to its destination of London Stansted airport.
A proud Chris Hobson, Van der Vlist UK Managing Director, reflects ‘It was an honour to be given the task of moving the 1000th Panther, they are built to save lives and they are certainly very impressive machines.’ The 7 and a half year relationship has so far seen 56 Rosenbauer vehicles being shipped on the back of the Van der Vlist trucks for Angloco.
