Creating multimodal Corridors

Van der Vlist recently completed the transport of three trains, each consisting of 10 wagons, for our valued client CAF. The project demonstrates the strength of our multimodal capabilities and our ability to coordinate complex logistics chains from start to finish.

The transport started at the Port of Bilbao. There, the wagons were transferred by rolled transhipment from a railed trailer onto a railed mafi trailer. From Bilbao, the cargo travelled by RoRo vessel to the Port of Antwerp. After arrival in Antwerp, a second rolled transhipment was performed. The wagons were moved from the railed mafi trailer onto our own railed vessel bridge trailer. This enabled the final transport stage by road. Using our modular equipment, the wagons were delivered safely to their destination in Reichshoffen, France.

Throughout the entire operation, our team coordinated every logistical aspect of the project. All port activities in both Bilbao and Antwerp were fully supervised by our own specialists. This ensured smooth manoeuvres, efficient transitions between transport modes and the highest levels of safety and control.

This successful project was made possible through the close cooperation of our teams. By combining specialist equipment, operational expertise and careful planning, we were able to provide CAF with an efficient, secure and fully integrated transport solution. We would like to thank CAF for their trust in our company and for the excellent cooperation throughout this project.

Projects such as these highlight the added value of a single logistics partner managing the complete transport chain. From port handling and transhipment to sea freight and specialized road transport, our team delivers tailored multimodal solutions for even the most challenging cargo movements.
