Riding the New Verona–Rostock Rail Route
We have reached an exciting new milestone regarding our Van der Vlist rail solutions. After introducing our XL‑bolster and S‑bolster, our innovative bolster system has now been officially patented, and we are putting it to work on a brand‑new rail corridor.
This week, we completed the first transport on a new corridor between Italy and Germany, operated by TX Logistik. On the new corridor, we have been granted authorisation for cargo up to 299 cm wide and 299 cm high, which enables us to deploy both bolster types:
- our S‑bolsters (259 cm wide) for diverse cargo needs, and
- our XL‑bolsters (299 cm wide) for equipment requiring maximum width.
The first shipment consisted of two aerial platforms headed for central Sweden. After arriving in north-Germany, we shipped the cargo to the south of Sweden, and from there it continued by truck to its final destination, achieving a 52% emission reduction compared to an all‑road route. We are conducting further route research to enable a rail connection deeper into central Sweden, which would increase the total potential emission reduction to 76%.
With our patented bolster system, our expanding European rail network, and new low‑emission routes becoming available, we continue to strengthen our contribution to cleaner and more efficient heavy and project cargo logistics.
