With the introduction of our first MAN hTGX hydrogen truck, we are taking another concrete step forward.
The truck marks the start of a pilot project through which we will gain practical experience with hydrogen in heavy and specialized transport. At the same time, it is the first in a series of hydrogen trucks that will be added to our fleet in the coming period.
At Van der Vlist, we continuously explore which sustainable technologies best align with our operations. We have already gained experience with battery-electric transport and now see opportunities for hydrogen, particularly in applications where long driving range, high availability, and short refuelling times are essential.

With a range of approximately 600 kilometres and a refuelling time of around 10 to 15 minutes, the MAN hTGX offers characteristics that fit well with the daily realities of heavy transport.
For us, this pilot is primarily about building knowledge. By deploying these vehicles in real-world operations, we gain insights into performance, operational capabilities, infrastructure requirements, and the role hydrogen may play in our future business activities. In addition, we expect developments related to CO₂ pricing, ETS2, blending obligations, and other regulations to have an increasingly significant impact on the transport sector. That is precisely why we believe it is important to gain practical experience now.
This research is not limited to road transport. Our engineering department is also actively exploring the further potential of hydrogen. We closely monitor developments and investigate how this technology can contribute to making transport, logistics, and equipment more sustainable.
At Van der Vlist, stewardship is at the heart of everything we do. We see it as our responsibility to invest today in solutions that contribute to the world of tomorrow. We deliberately choose a step-by-step approach. Not only based on theory, but also on practical experience. We want to understand what works, where the challenges lie, and how hydrogen can contribute to the further decarbonisation of heavy transport.
The arrival of this first MAN hTGX therefore does not mark an endpoint, but rather the beginning of a new phase. Through this pilot, we continue to expand our knowledge of zero-emission transport and prepare for the future of special and heavy transport.
